We Shall All Be Healed

I'm a little shaken up.

I played poker tonight in Mitchellville (just outside of Bowie). There was 16 people, it was really fun, and I went out in 10th place. I had 10/A suited -- the flop comes down, 5-5-10. Naturally, I bet big, he raises, and I re-raise him all-in, confident he wasn't playing with fives. I was right, he had the 10/Jack kicker (woo! for me) but as fate would have it, the jack came out on the river card, and I was done for the night.

Kevin E (who spotted me for the night, more on that later) ended up winning the whole thing, $400 in total. Don't ask me how much he's won in the last month alone playing poker, you'd be a little jealous.

Anyway, it was about 1:30 and we were heading back to Edgewater so I could drop him off then go back to my house. On Route 50 (we were in the middle lane), someone for some reason suddenly slowed down big time, and we wern't even close to an exit. Kevin pointed it out as I did not notice it in time (going about 70), and rather than just move to a different lane, both of them open, I braked way too soon, and ended up spinning out at about 50 mph. I thought I was going to regain control for a second, but it spun again and we ended up in the brush on the side of the road.

We were able to get out, but the thing in front of my tire is broken, and it makes a horrible noise when I take a right turn, so I need to get that fixed. I'm planning on going out again tomorrow night, so I definitely better get that fixed.

Either way, I thanked God that Kevin was with me in the car, because without him, there's a good chance I would have ended up in a collision with that car at 70 miles per hour and gotten killed.

Did I mention he paid the $50 buy-in for me? What a guy. The least I could do was give him the giant box of star wars CCG cards I had in my closet -- plenty to find some good stuff in it.

Goodnight.

I'm Kevin. I attend Buffalo State College in The Empire State. I'm your normal teenager who's secure enough in his masculinity to do things some people may find a little odd. My turn-ons include long walks on the beach, poetry, and percussion.

I enjoy the music stylings of (but NEVER limited to) Morrissey, Coheed and Cambria, The Marleys (bob to ziggy), The Heptones, The Toasters, Pietasters, Queen, Luciano, Junior Murvin, NOFX, Mountain Goats, Rufus Wainwright, Death by Stereo, Passion Worship Band, Switchfoot, Five Iron Frenzy, The Darkness, CSNY, Virginia Coalition, Alexisonfire, Hopesfall, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, MF Doom, RJD2, Kool Keith, Aesop Rock, DJ Shadow, King Geedorah, Why?, Bright Eyes, Wilco, Tom Waits, Talib Kweli, Neva Dinova, Beastie Boys, and even Jay-Z.

I enjoy reading The Bible, Dan Brown, CS Lewis, John Steinbeck (favorite author), Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Eugene Peterson.
