We Shall All Be Healed

Been a while. Got my college trip #2 write-up that'll go on Kevnation! soon. For now, it goes here:

College Trip 2
April 26th, 2004.
Buffalo, NY. 8:20 PM. Radisson Hotel.

8-hour trip, woah. It's really good to be here right now. Dad lost his voice before thr trip even started, so that's been a little annoying. I feel bad though; he sounds like an obscene phone call when you talk to him.

The drive was pretty uneventful. Needless to say, not much conversation. We drove through a lot of interstates, a lot of small towns. Was rather nice, actually. I would never mind living in a small town-- well, I probably would after about 18 months. We passed ATTICA STATE MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON, the mighty Susquehanna River, and gas at a place called "KWIK FILL" for $1.85. Ouch. Radisson's got swell rooms. Nicer than that crap holiday inn. Buff State Orientation tomorrow at noon. Should be fun.

April 28th, 2004. 2:08 PM.

Well, two entries. Not bad. Right now I'm borreeedd. I drove for about 3 hours through New York and the winding hills of the beautiful northern PA countryside. Listened to the Smiths, Fallout Boy, Pietasters, and 311 before paw get sick of it. With barely a voice, he managed to utter "no more!" sometime about 30 miles north of Williamsport.

Oh yeah, the college visit. It was bangin', as Heather loves to say. Bangin' like a fucking todder carrying a wooden mallet and metal pan on a rainy day. I got AT LEAST 25-30 mins of time with the kind folks from the Buff State social work program. Besides the fact that they were extremely nice (you don't get jerks in the social work field), the program is highly accreditted, and they had a plethora of information for me, and really knew what they were talking about. The senior who was also at the table had good things to say about the classes.

College has a 70-80% freshman retention rate, score. We saw one of the freshman dorms, which were a little more "Friendly" then the ones at Curry C. Went into one of the rooms, looked solid. One guy had a "metalliska" flier on his wall and a Bush "one term president" sticker. Holla. Awesome computer lab for a little dorm.

The sports arena was super awesome possum. Buffalo hosts not only basketball, but hockey. A snazzy gym in the basement, not that I'd frequent it. Maybe once a week to pump some fucking iron.

The library was very modern and up to date. My dad was reminded of all the time he spent in here (he also went to Buffalo State, ironically enough). I'll be spending enough time there too, fo 'sho.

Student union was union-ish. Good place to eat. Radio station was snazzy.

Needless to say, I think I'm going to go here. Saves me $$ in student loan payments, not that that was my #1 issue (it wasn't.) About 4.5 hours from Heather -- which is at the very least, closer than Boston would be. EIGHT hours from home, rock on. Buffalo's a cool city too. Lots of stuff to do.

Freshman orientation is July 28-29 -- I'm FLYING up this time, with mom.

Yesterday was fun -- me, Brent, and Will all went to the Men's Wearhouse for tuxedo stuff. GREAT prices, and a wide variety to choose from. Will paid for his, me and Brent got sized up. We both think we know what we're getting. Afterwards, me and Brent hit Chic-Fil-A and talked for a while about a lot of stuff, including chicken nuggets and spirituality. Such a cool guy; I wish he wasn't going to school in North Carolina.

This weekend is looking okay. I have to work in 10 minutes (BLARGH) but I get to see Xanthematic with Sarah and the south river gang later on somewhere in Annapolis. That's always fun. Tomorrow after work and getting my tuxedo rental finalized (i can't find a picture online), me and Heather will hopefully hit the school play at 7, cause I really want to see it.

Sunday, if it's nice enough, I'll golf after church sometime. If not, then, I. .won't.

Tomorrow is truly a glorious day. A little more then the resurrection there for you. And in case you don't want to read that or listen to me, you should check out the most articulate, intelligent, rational, and noteworthy Christian of the 20th century: C.S. Lewis.

I finally got the "other writing" section for Kevnation! up. Trying to make a more detailed template for the blogging page too. Here's my journal of events from the super college trip to Boston. Or just click up on "other writing". It's right there.

I need a punk rock, snappy title for my blog page. I'm putting up a new poll on the main page soon, and I want you to answer it. Or just comment here. What should my new blog title be?

A) We Shall All Be Healed
B) A Kev That Drips Blood
C) What A Beast!
D) Eternal Life Shall Kill Us All

I'm going to Buffalo next weekend, too. Hanging out with Mike tonight. Kevnation! is DEFINITELY coming closer to a photography page. Bet on it.

I'll be keeping a journal during my journey to and from Boston to visit colleges. (today - monday)

I'll be typing it all up, MAYBE with pictures, when I get back.
A blog devoted to the life and leisure of Kevnation's creator, Kev.

I'm Kevin. I attend Buffalo State College in The Empire State. I'm your normal teenager who's secure enough in his masculinity to do things some people may find a little odd. My turn-ons include long walks on the beach, poetry, and percussion.

I enjoy the music stylings of (but NEVER limited to) Morrissey, Coheed and Cambria, The Marleys (bob to ziggy), The Heptones, The Toasters, Pietasters, Queen, Luciano, Junior Murvin, NOFX, Mountain Goats, Rufus Wainwright, Death by Stereo, Passion Worship Band, Switchfoot, Five Iron Frenzy, The Darkness, CSNY, Virginia Coalition, Alexisonfire, Hopesfall, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, MF Doom, RJD2, Kool Keith, Aesop Rock, DJ Shadow, King Geedorah, Why?, Bright Eyes, Wilco, Tom Waits, Talib Kweli, Neva Dinova, Beastie Boys, and even Jay-Z.

I enjoy reading The Bible, Dan Brown, CS Lewis, John Steinbeck (favorite author), Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Eugene Peterson.

I'm an avid poet (not so much anymore) and reader of poetry. My favorite poets are Stanley Kunitz, Alan Ginsberg, Tuli Kupferberg, Bret Hubinger (AACC Professor!), Walt Whitman, and Edward Thomas.
